Allegedly the dramatic planet known as Joseph Xavier-Mack was consumed by a phenomenon known as Ankh Fyre; a solar powered energy force that burns the memory of one’s brain inside out. The burning process produced an urge of unlimited creativity and freedom, birthing the Rebel singer/songwriter, producer, playwright, director and musician some call Poet.

 

In a short span of time Poet AF Black has recorded and digitally released four musical projects in 2011, performed in venues such a World Café Live and The Legendary Dobbs (Philadelphia) and The Bowery Poetry Club. He has featured on several mixtape releases with various artist from around the World such as Lloyd Alexander (Philadelphia), Kno'Ledge (Amsterdam) and Mossad (Krakow). His first independent release Poor Poetry Vol. I [under the name Joseph Xavier-Mack] was released in the spring 2011 after gaining notoriety for his features on underground rapper Josh Well’s GEMINI album. In the Spring of 2011, The sounds of Poet’s experimental fusion of Funk, Latin, Jazz, HipHop and R&B tracks layered with atmospheric vocals landed him and his Djembe on the soils of Amsterdam, NL to perform as a guest on the online Def Poetry Jam-like Dutch Series SPOKEN NOTES. Following the series and the releasing of his unmixed politically conscious album The TIME IS NOW he performed at the annual Dutch Metro 54 festival and The National Keti Koti festival as an opening act lining for the legendary reggae band Third World. After hitch-hiking with a newly found friend to Poland, Poet linked up with prodigy Filip Mozul(drummer) to pair up as the recorded vocals for a Funky Groove Jam Band at the Harris Jazz Bar in Krakow, PL. After two month of recording and performing in Krakow Poet returned to Amsterdam to join forces to serve as resident artist in the fall of 2011. Poet Returned to Philadelphia in the winter of 2011 and has formed two bands in which he serves as co-writer and arranger. In 2012 Poet independently spearheaded the ANKHFYRE9 : BLACK FUTURE MOVEMENT; an international multi-faceted artistic platform for like-minded contemporary artist. Under this movement Poet collaborated with Philadelphian, Christopher “GOODLAWD”  Jordan and  Barbara “Barb” Duncan  and formed the MIDNITE SPEAKERBOX label. Together they produce four basement Albums, TRANSPARENCY(EP), FIRST BORN(EP), AQUARIUS (The Voodoo Child) and PANOPTICONIA. Each Album chronicles the spiritual and mental growth of a young artist coping with the extremities of reality, time and love. Taking a break from his own personal ambitions Poet recorded a  Contemporary Urban Afro-futuristic collaborative musical project birth out of a love affair with Performing Artist NuBi RA known as NUBL@CK in which they produced the short-film Poet AF Black's TRANSPARENCY and PROUD NIGGA TO SOLDIER (a stage play) and the positively recieved the NUBL@CK album. After a year of new setbacks, new ideas and new resources, Poet headed back to Krakow, Poland to finish the long-awaited dlUlb Album with polish guitarist Nakon and drummer Filip Mozul.  Now in 2013, he has produced three new musical projects; SIMBA (LP), DeepSoulSpace and the highly successful SHE. He also continues to collaborate with Cinematogropher, Photographer & MC Kitchell "MELANIN KRIS" Samuel (Suriname) and Theatre For The Free People as a collective geared towards developing the New Black Aesthetic through Media Arts. Poet is an Affective Force that has dedicated his life to being lyrically and Artistically relevant by exploring identity, relationships, sex. sexuality, spirituality and culture as a surrealistic experience by the aid his New Age Contemporary Indie HipHop Electromic Funky Soul apporach he calls, Black (F)ankh.
